A little bit about me
While working as a library assistant at the University of Puerto Rico, I discovered my affinity for service in libraries. I truly enjoy working with people and their information needs. My undergraduate degree is in Humanities- European History. In 2015 I finished the MS in Library Science at the University of North Texas. Currently, I am a graduate student at the University of Texas in Arlington. I am pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration.

I never considered myself a creative person, but people that know me say that I am creative. I think the reason for that is that usually I find myself in situations that require some type of product and I have the capacity of generating ideas and making them a reality. Creativity is a skill that can be developed. Sometimes, creativity is an intense moment of inspiration that leads to seeing an idea clearly in our mind.

In the context of libraries, I have seen innovation dramatically transform the field with new technologies. Yet, at our core, library and information services align with human needs. Innovation is affecting various areas, but at the same time there are old “wicked problems” that are still around. Disruption of traditional activities in all areas of society through innovation is a common occurrence. I would like to clarify how can I help others to innovate and how can I innovate.
Currently, society is experiencing a period in which older paradigms and new paradigms are clashing. I have observed that people sometimes express a longing for the days of the past, but forces we cannot control are pushing us forward. Technology will continue to have a significant impact on society.
In the future economy, a person’s capacity to generate ideas will have a significant impact in the quality of their life. I want to know more about creativity and innovation to be in alignment with the new paradigm of the future. I want to think while standing on the horizon and help others see the possibilities of charting their own course with creativity and innovation.
At the moment, I am not sure about the nature of my culminating project. I think I will know by the end of this week!
